Winning a lottery is pretty rare. Winning a lottery and surviving a lightning strike is even more unusual, but that's what happened to one Canadian man, according to reports.
Peter McCathie of Nova Scotia won a $1,000,000 Atlantic Lottery prize on July 15 along with his co-worker Diana Miller. But that's not the first time McCathie defied odds.
In a less lucky moment as a teen, McCathie was struck by lightning while wading in shallow water attempting to secure a boat, according to the Canadian television outlet CTV Atlantic.
"There was one big, white cloud in the sky and the lightning bolt came through the trees and hit me," McCathie told CTV Atlantic in an interview on Monday.
What are the chances these two things would happen to one person? A mathematics professor at the University of Moncton in Canada estimates it's about 1 in 2.6 trillion, according to ABC News.
